Mainzer Stadtwerke Development of a unified data platform strategy as a basis for smart energy and smart city applications.
We worked with the Mainzer Stadtwerke public utility company to develop a comprehensive data platform strategy to serve as a basis for future smart energy and smart city applications. In doing so, we pursued a holistic approach in which our experts in data architecture, security, and business intelligence collaborated closely with teams from the Mainzer Stadtwerke.
In the energy and mobility sector, the number of promising application areas is constantly increasing. Examples include ESG reporting, smart city initiatives, smart grids, and mobility data. Creating sustainable, successful solutions requires a data strategy which forms the foundation for future intelligent approaches and applications.
As part of a comprehensive consulting approach, inovex worked with the Mainzer Stadtwerke to first define the specific requirements of different working groups and departments. An interdisciplinary team of experts from fields including data architecture, cloud platforms, and security evaluated and then designed a variety of architecture paradigms. This process involved comparing both on-premises and cloud solutions using a systematic framework.
This close collaboration with the Mainzer Stadtwerke resulted in the development of an effective data platform concept which fulfils the ambitious requirements. This process took a number of specific factors into account, including data security (KRITIS, GDPR, encryption), data processing (batch/streaming, ERP, geodata, complex transformations), and organisation and access (self-service, low-code/no-code, data sharing, explorative analysis).
The resulting data protection-compliant, custom-tailored solution ensures that the Mainzer Stadtwerke is now optimally prepared to successfully face the challenges of the energy and mobility transition.
