Description

Our Data Artist training course teaches practice-based skills, enabling participants to create visually appealing and functional dashboards which communicate information effectively. Participants will receive a sound introduction to the fundamentals of data visualisation and learn how to purposefully implement visual perception and design principles. They will design various chart types to optimally represent data and get to grips with dashboard layout and composition.

Particular focus is placed on data storytelling as a method for presenting complex information clearly and comprehensibly. Participants will develop and implement wireframes in order to learn the creative process of designing dashboards in a practical manner. Applying this knowledge in Power BI will enable participants to implement their designs professionally and efficiently.

The course also presents methods for analysing and optimising existing dashboards in order to maximise their effectiveness. Participants will learn to use templates for redesigns, as well as the creation of user-defined visualisations using Deneb. Various visualisation options and the integration of SVG graphics make for flexible, effective visualisations. The course also takes a look at future trends and developments in data visualisation in order to help participants design solutions which will remain competitive in the long term.

Typical questions we answer:

  • What are the main goals of data visualisation and how do they influence decision-making?
  • What are the different dashboard types, and when should each type be used?
  • Which principles of visual perception should be taken into account when designing dashboards?
  • How do you select the right chart type for a particular data story?
  • What are the most important functions of Power BI for me to know?
  • How can I use data to tell a convincing story?
  • What are wireframes, and how do they help with dashboard design?
  • How should I go about designing a dashboard using templates?
  • How do I integrate user-defined visualisations into Power BI?

Our training approach

From the needs analysis to the awarding of certificates, we offer customized training courses, flexibly designed and carried out according to your requirements.

If you are interested in in-house training, we will start by identifying your needs and discussing your objectives. This discussion forms the basis for an initial offer.

As soon as the framework data has been clarified, our trainers start adapting the training content. Many of our training courses have a modular structure and offer the opportunity to design the agenda flexibly. Training courses that prepare for certifications, on the other hand, are less flexible. Here, however, you can set the content focus according to your wishes.

You will receive all relevant information in advance of the training. The training will then take place in the room of your choice and at the agreed time. Our trainers will adapt to your requirements.

After completing the training, all participants receive a certificate confirming their participation. You will also have the opportunity to give us feedback on the content and the course. We are always happy to receive praise and suggestions for improvement.

Frequently Asked Questions

Which design principles should I take into account when creating Power BI reports?
Clarity, consistency, contrast, and visual hierarchy all play a decisive role. This is illustrated using examples.
How do I select the right chart type for my data?
Understand your data. In this training course, you’ll be shown how to create correct data relationships and which goals (comparison, trend, distribution, or correlation) you can represent using which chart types.
What interactive elements can I incorporate into my reports?
This training course will provide you with insights into various high-level functions you can use to individually customise and filter your reports.
How can I structure my reports to make them easy to navigate?
A clear structure and intuitive navigation are essential for user-friendly Power BI reports. Bookmarks enable predefined views to be saved and allow users to click to switch between different scenarios or detail views. A well-thought-out report navigation with buttons, drillthrough pages, and interactive filters helps users to quickly find their way around.
What role does visual perception play in designing Power BI reports?
Taking into account visual perception is decisive in designing effective Power BI reports. You can use design principles to considerably improve the user-friendliness and effectiveness of your Power BI reports.
What frequent mistakes should I avoid when designing Power BI reports?
Information overload, unclear visualisations due to missing key information, a lack of interactivity, and inconsistent design.
