Preparation for the Certified Tester Foundation Level exam
Description
The Certified Tester Foundation Level (CTFL) course equips participants with the fundamental knowledge and skills required to perform software testing and prepares participants for the internationally recognised ISTQB® Certified Tester Foundation Level (CTFL) exam. Participants will learn the fundamentals of software testing, including planning, specification, execution, and documentation. The course will cover a number of different testing approaches and their usage, and will illustrate methods of aligning the testing process to the software development life cycle. It will also demonstrate practical skills, such as creating error reports, test progress reports, and quality reports, as well as handling automated testing. This course places particular emphasis on risk-based testing to enable participants to assess risks and prioritise testing activities.
This course optimally prepares participants for the ISTQB® Certified Tester Foundation Level examination. Participants will be able to employ the techniques acquired immediately to improve the quality of their own projects.
Additional examination preparation is recommended. Registration for the official ISTQB CTFL 4.0 certification exam can be booked directly in the booking process.
This course is aimed at software testers, test managers, developers, quality managers, project leaders, and everyone interested in furthering their knowledge of software testing.

The course contents are based on the latest German v4.0 syllabus published by the GTB and cover the following topics:
- The importance of and need for testing: why testing is essential and how it contributes to the success of a project.
- Fundamental testing terminology and definitions: key terms and their meaning in the test context.
- The basic principles of testing: the essential principles on which testing is based.
- Test activities, testware, and roles: the tasks and activities involved in the test process, the test process in context, traceability between the test basis and the testware, and the various roles involved in testing.
- Skills and best practices: the whole-team approach and the importance of independent testing.
- Testing in the software development life cycle: interaction and proven practices, including DevOps, shift-left testing, and retrospectives on process improvement.
- Test stages and test types: confirmation testing and regression testing
- Static testing: fundamentals, the feedback and review process.
- Test analysis and design: black-box and white-box testing, experience-based testing techniques, and collaborative testing approaches like ATDD.
- Management of test activities: test planning, risk management, test monitoring and controlling, test completion, and configuration and error management.
